It's okay not to be okay

Hey guys , what a week , its unreal how events un fold
hope everyone is well , my heart goes out to any one affected by the Manchester attack , it is appalling that kid's and innocent people are killed in such a vicious manor on what should be a joyous , fun occasion .

22-05-2017 will be remembered forever but not for the right reason's .

So this week i want to talk about "Mental Health" , mental health should not be taking lightly as it is very fragile and we only get one so i urge everyone to lookout for there own and there loved one's  May is the green ribbon month for mental health were a lot of campaign's and events take place to support A good mental health .

52% of people have had some experience of people with a mental health problem , weather that be depression , anxiety or panic attacks or suicide .

Surveys were held over the last few years and the results haven't really changed much :

Health behaviors - smoking    2015 - 2016

23%- 23% pretty much the same

                                Alcohol     2015 - 2016

                                                  76% - 75 %  a small change

                              Bad food    2015 - 2016

                                                62% - 60 % increase in healthier decisions

when asked about a good mental health 85% said it was good and 10% said they had mental health problems .

Even using that word problem I detest it as no one should feel like there a problem .

Men reported higher mental health scores than women 69.9% to 65.8 % . Do you agree with these statistics?? I always feel like as women we talk more openly about our issues so you would presume we have a better sense of mental health , but in a weird way I find men don't worry the same way as we women do so therefor in the long run does it affect us mentally more ?? that's not saying men don't worry they just deal with it in a different manner .
what do you think ?

for all you Dubliners including myself , Those living in Dublin report lower scores on the Mental health index which indicates higher level of psychological stress in Dublin. I would have never imagined were i live could account to the amount of stress I'm under ???

When you are upset , worried or feeling down , it can help to talk about what you are going through . talking  to someone about what is troubling you can make a big difference in how you feel .

I've had a few friends turn to me lately with situations that they have had and some times people just need you to listen it's okay not to have all the answers or you can help find them .

There are 92 mental health associations throughout Ireland  get in touch with anybody to help you if you feel not yourself in any way shape or form , YOU ARE NOT ALONE .
that's a comment I find people saying a lot who suffer from a mental illness or issue , they tell me how they can be in a room full of people and still feel  alone .

try to remember you never truly know what any one is going through weather it be a stranger or friend or a loved one sometimes a simple " how are you doing " can open a gate way of emotions and help someone get through a tough day .

we all have moments of strenght and weakness but they don't define you some just need a little bit more help than others and that is absolutely okay and we all should be supportive and understanding of others with mental health issues as it's a hard road to travel down and if someone is opening up to you , they have a lot of trust in you and they are just taking it day by day .And yes it's not easy   for you to deal with mood swings , or wondering if they are okay when they say they are or sometimes it might be a hard decision or medical help or treatment but i would rather someone hate me for trying to help them than love me for the sake of it !!!

Even though we are in 2017 we still seem to look at depression and anxiety as a taboo ,
Depression and un diagnosed depression can often be associated with suicide Ireland is the fourth highest country for suicide in the world that is a scary  , 1 in 5 people in this country will suffer from depression  so imagine losing 1 in every 5 people you know if there was no one to help ,   some signs are people who really struggle to focus even on little tasks ,fatigue and decreased energy , feelings of guilt  or pessimism , thoughts of suicide or attempted suicide and persistent head aches or cramps which do not go away after being treated . Baring in mind we all go through times of being depressed but we will often get out of it as we have reason to be depressed like a bad day at work or a death or under the weather so just note people who are Depressed more days than not are in a lot of pain sometimes physically but mainly mentally and are battling demons on a daily basis .

I hope after reading this we can all just be aware that being nice to someone can make a big impact on someones day and feelings , and when you notice someone is not themselves don't ignore it ASK them what is wrong even if they get mad at you as it could be the difference in seeing them again or not and I hate going to that extreme but we have all heard the stories of people suffering in silence  but that is the world we live in today , were 8 year old kid's are getting killed and trump is president so only we can affect change !!!

Samaritans Suicide helpline ; 116123 or SMS 0872609090  24 hours a day 7 days a week these people are there to listen and help if you want them to .
